Objectives: The student will apply knowledge of text features, parts of a book, text
structures, and genres to understand, gain information from, respond to, and
analyze a dramatic text. (English 2.a.4. DOK 3)
Do-Now: Review Do-Now
Materials: pen, paper, three ring binder, worksheet, "Literature" textbook
Set:
Have a student to read the objective from the board.
Review genres.
Has anyone ever seen a play? Who can tell me about it ? A play is from the genre of literature called drama. It was the forerunner of television and film.
Procedures:
1) Do-Now (5 min)
2) Review genres (10 min)
3) Pass out handout on drama and have the students to read the definitions aloud (10 min)
4) Assign characters for each act.
5) Read "Sorry, Right Number" by Stephen King on p. 791 aloud. (20+ min)
6) Assign characters for performance tomorrow.
Closure:
Restate the objective.
Review dramatic elements.
Preview next lesson.
Assessment/Evaluation:

Informal: The teacher will have students to look for the elements of a drama in the play(C) and will ask questions about it and observe their responses.(M)
